Watch AI take down a human being in chess.
AI has been playing chess for an awfully long time now. It has been changing the game, improving our skills and learning from human knowledge.
Magnus Carlsen, has been defeated by an artificial intelligence
The chess grandmaster, Magnus Carlsen, has been defeated by an artificial intelligence program developed by the Google subsidiary DeepMind. This was not an easy win for the machine, which ran on a single computer for several hours before playing its game. However, it was able to beat the world champion in under three hours.
AlphaZero project
The most recent example of AI’s victory over humans in chess is the AlphaZero project, which was a part of Google’s DeepMind. The robot is equipped with a computer brain and was programmed by humans. It will be able to move the chess pieces and checkmate its opponent without any errors, which is why we called it ‘AlphaZero’, as it’s the first step towards building an unbeatable chess-playing robot. The AlphaZero algorithm managed to take down the world champion in chess in just 4 hours - with a combination of deep neural networks and tree search algorithms.
AI will have a huge impact on all aspects of our lives
Watching one of the best human players get taken down by AI was very entertaining to say the least; but what does this mean for us humans? The implications of this event are among alarming and exciting questions that have arisen since AlphaZero was unveiled. Most people believe that AI will have a huge impact on all aspects of our lives in the near future.
computer victory
When asked about his thoughts on the computer’s victory, Carlsen said “It's still a very impressive achievement. I can't say I'm not disappointed but it's more than that - I feel happy that I contributed to this work."A huge deal like this is only going to impact technology more and more going forward.
